Situation

Muriel McBrien Kauffman, civic leader and philanthropist, envisioned a center for the performing arts in Kansas City, Missouri. After her death, her daughter helped make this vision a reality. The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts opened in 2011 in a revitalized section of downtown. The Arts District Garage was also built to accommodate the thousands of patrons who visit the center annually.

Result

Husch Blackwell’s P3 attorneys crafted the public-private partnership structure for the multiuse parking facility on behalf of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. The partnership between the city and the performing arts center allowed for the development of the $400 million nationally recognized project.
