Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Kansas City-based partner Gary Barnes has been elected Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees by William Jewell College and will serve as a member of the Executive Committee.
Barnes has had a long-standing relationship with William Jewell College. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from the school in 1975 and had previously served on William Jewell’s Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2015. After a one-year hiatus, Barnes was elected once again to the Board last May. Barnes also served as President of the William Jewell College National Alumni Association from 1991 to 1993.
Barnes is a member of Husch Blackwell’s Financial Services & Capital Markets industry team and Insolvency & Commercial Bankruptcy practice group. He represents lenders, landlords, lessors, preference defendants, buyers in 363 sales and creditors’ committees in commercial financial restructurings and bankruptcies and has served as national/regional insolvency counsel for a number of financial institutions.
