Husch Blackwell represented Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. of Oakville, Ontario and its Liberty Utilities subsidiaries in their $2.4 billion acquisition of The Empire District Electric Company of Joplin, Missouri, announced today.

The transaction continues the firm’s long-standing relationship with Algonquin and its U.S. subsidiaries, which has included assistance in the acquisition of regulated utilities and renewable power generation facilities across the United States.
