Husch Blackwell is proud to announce its sponsorship of and participation in Milwaukee Startup Week 2017, an event that brings together entrepreneurs, investors, local leaders, and major companies to highlight entrepreneurship throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Event programming begins Monday, November 6, 2017, and continues through Sunday, November 12. This marks the second year of the event.

Husch Blackwell is hosting Startup Milwaukee’s Showcase event on Tuesday, November 7, at 5:30 p.m. at City Lights Brewing Company in Milwaukee. The event will feature a dozen or more emerging startup companies from throughout Wisconsin with demonstrations of their products, services, and business objectives in a fun, casual setting. The general public is invited to attend.

Husch Blackwell is also presenting the legal track of Startup Milwaukee’s Launch Conference, an event featuring over 20 free workshops that connect entrepreneurs to the ideas and resources they need to successfully launch and grow new businesses. The event program’s legal track will feature the following topics and speakers:

  • “Developing an IP Game Plan: Protecting a Startup's Technology and Brand”

Presented by Tom Pienkos & John Pienkos

  • “Raising Money? Great! But Know the Legal Issues Involved”

Presented by Kate Bechen & Scott Brunner

  • “Legal Launch: What to Ask Early On”

Presented by Steve Laabs & Jackie Wilcox

“Entrepreneurial activity in our region is blossoming and touches on everything from beer to blockchain,” said Bechen, a Milwaukee-based partner in Husch Blackwell’s Startups practice group. “Startup Week is the perfect venue for Husch Blackwell to connect with Wisconsin’s growing startup community and share its industry knowledge in an informal setting. We are proud of our partnership with Startup Week and look forward to a fun and educational program of activities.”
