Andre works to bring Husch Blackwell’s diversity, equity and inclusion strategy to life, ensuring that the firm’s colleagues, clients and communities are supported through our DEI efforts.
Andre began his career in the finance world, working in consumer banking while also assisting with DEI efforts at his company. Eventually, DEI became his central focus, and he rose to Vice President of Global Diversity & Inclusion Strategy at TD Bank Group, the largest bank in Canada and one of the ten largest in the United States. During his time in the role, Andre oversaw a 15 percent increase in the hiring of diverse candidates at TD, created a new global sensitivity training program now used across North America, and led the bank from number 38 to number 14 on Diversity Inc.’s Top 50 list of global companies.
As a member of several minority groups, Andre understands the importance of diversity and intersectionality firsthand. After spending his early years in Guyana, he immigrated to the United States with his parents at age five. He’d be the first to tell you that he’s lived the American Dream, but also that he understands the challenges of navigating the American professional world as a minority. He knows how much diverse groups can bring to the table, and he’s passionate about helping companies tap into that wealth of knowledge and perspective.
Andre joined Husch Blackwell in order to be part of the firm’s growing DEI team. He develops strategies to increase our DEI efforts and to further support diverse attorneys and staff as they support clients. As Director, Andre oversees all DEI programs, communications and events, ensuring that DEI plays an integral role in the daily life of the firm.
