Situation
Members of a Chinese trade association representing the wood products industry were faced with additional duties on products being imported into the U.S. due to possible antidumping duties and duties to offset foreign subsidies. For these duties to be avoided, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) had to be persuaded that the U.S. was not being injured by these Chinese imports of hardwood plywood.
Result
Working in coordination with groups representing importers, we files briefs on behalf of the association and prepared testimony on the association’s behalf that persuaded the ITC that there was no injury to the U.S. industry. The high duties did not go into effect, allowing the member companies to continue to export to the U.S. without additional duties.
