Situation
A large hospital system was looking for an approach (other than traditional employment) in which to integrate with independent physicians to improve clinical alignment and to be better positioned for healthcare reform.
Result
We assisted the health system in developing an integration strategy that created a closer alignment of the clinical operations of the hospital and the physicians, improved efficiencies and profitability of the groups, and allowed the physicians to maintain autonomy over the day-to-day operations of their practices. The model was successfully implemented with four separate specialty groups.
