Situation

Several hospitals sought supplemental Medicaid payments to offset their increasing unreimbursed cost of treating Medicaid and uninsured patients.

Result

Our team used its extensive knowledge of Medicaid reimbursement to develop affiliations between the hospitals and public entities. The public entities transferred public funds to the state Medicaid agency to draw down the federal share of supplemental Medicaid payments that were then paid to the hospitals, reducing the hospitals’ uncompensated care.
