The American Bar Association’s Section of Dispute Resolution installed Husch Blackwell Partner John R. Phillips as 2012-2013 Chair at its annual meeting in early August. He will serve a one-year term in this position.
“At the Dispute Resolution Spring Conference in Chicago, April 3-6, 2013, more than 1,000 professionals involved in alternative dispute resolution will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the formation of the Section,” Phillips said. “It’s an honor to be leading a Section that has become such an important fixture in dispute resolution in America and internationally.”
The ABA’s Section of Dispute Resolution is the world’s largest association of dispute resolution professionals, with nearly 19,000 members. The Section offers its members training programs, resources and publications geared to build practice skills.
Phillips previously concentrated his work on labor and employment areas, but began mediating and arbitrating in 1992. Since then, he has increasingly served as a neutral mediator, arbitrator or Special Master for courts in complex commercial, securities, product liability and healthcare matters, as well as employment cases and class actions. Phillips leads the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution practice, which focuses on arbitration advocacy, mediation advocacy, development of dispute resolution programs incorporating mediation and arbitration, and neutral arbitration/mediation.
