Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that attorney Demetrius Peterson has been chosen by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce to participate in its Centurions Leadership Program.
The Centurions Leadership Program is a two-year immersion in leadership and community engagement activities during which participants gain valuable insights on the issues facing the Kansas City region and learn about opportunities to become more civically engaged. The program began in 1976 and has over 1,200 alumni.
Peterson practices in Husch Blackwell’s Healthcare, Life Sciences & Education industry group and counsels educational institutions on alleged violations of institutional policies and federal civil rights laws, including sexual harassment, racial discrimination and harassment, age discrimination and retaliation. Before joining Husch Blackwell, Demetrius served as in-house legal counsel for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
Peterson is also active in the community, mentoring and advising diverse students at the high school, undergraduate and post-graduate levels. He has belonged to the University of Kansas School of Law Diversity Advisory Council since 2013 and current serves on the F.L. Schlagle Legal Pathway Advisory Board.
