National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that attorney Joseph S. Diedrich has been named Chair-Elect of the Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. His one-year term begins July 1, 2023.
The Appellate Practice Section encourages communication and exchange of ideas between attorneys practicing in state and federal appellate courts. Among other things, the section and its members host regular workshops and continuing education seminars, engage in significant pro bono activities, sponsor a biannual Best Briefs Competition, regularly review and comment on rules proposals for Wisconsin courts, and publish a newsletter and blog.
In 2021, Diedrich was elected to serve as Secretary of the Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
Diedrich, a member of the Transportation, Manufacturing, and Technology industry group and its Appellate and Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution practices, is based in the firm's offices in Madison and Washington, D.C. Specializing in appellate and administrative litigation, Diedrich has extensive experience briefing appeals in various courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the D.C., Seventh, Eighth, and Federal Circuits, as well as the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Georgia Supreme Court, Wisconsin Court of Appeals, and Illinois Appellate Court. He has also presented oral arguments in the Seventh Circuit, Eighth Circuit, Federal Circuit, and Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Additionally, Diedrich is an award-winning legal writer and a member of the Editorial Board of Wisconsin Lawyer.
