The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section has named two Husch Blackwell associates to its 20th Leadership Academy Class. Husch Blackwell’s Tamar Hodges and Shelly Rosenfelder are among the 12 young lawyers who will join the class of 2019-2020.
Hodges, based in Husch Blackwell’s Jefferson City office, is a healthcare attorney and registered nurse. Focusing her practice on healthcare regulation, Hodges works closely with a variety of healthcare entities such as long-term care facilities, acute care hospitals and ambulatory care centers. She also represents physicians and nurses before professional licensing boards. Hodges is involved in community leadership, serving as a volunteer attorney for the Missouri Coalition for the Right to Counsel and was a participant in the O’Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Institute Class of 2018.
Rosenfelder, a commercial litigator, is based in Husch Blackwell’s Springfield, Mo. office. She handles a variety of commercial litigation matters in both state and federal court involving matters such as general business disputes, breach of contract and tort claims, mechanic’s liens, boundary and zoning issues, and probate litigation. She also defends businesses against consumer claims under the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, premises liability claims, wage and hour claims under state and federal law, and employment discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination claims. Rosenfelder contributes to community fundraising and awareness efforts with the American Heart Association. She also serves as a board member of the Downtown Springfield Association.
The Leadership Academy is composed of Missouri lawyers less than 40 years old or who have been admitted for 10 years or fewer, with an emphasis on diversity of ethnicity, culture, gender, area of practice and region within the state. The participants are expected to complete training at the Missouri Bar Center in Jefferson City, attend meetings of The Missouri Bar Committees and Board of Governors, meet leaders of The Missouri Bar, and attend workshops regarding leadership styles. The Academy also develops a community service project, which each member facilities in his or her community. At the end of the year, Academy members commit to two additional years of service in The Missouri Bar.
