National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce the continued growth of its Energy & Natural Resources industry team with the addition of Chicago-based partner Matt Bonovich. He joins the firm from Sheppard Mullin.
Bonovich has nearly two decades of experience where he has negotiated all facets of project contracts, including mergers and acquisitions, power purchase agreements, hedges, construction and procurement, interconnection and transmission, and operations and maintenance.
“Matt is an exceptional attorney who provides significant depth in the renewable energy industry, particularly in construction contracting, build-transfer agreements, and offtake,” said Anna Kimbrell, partner and leader of Husch Blackwell’s Energy & Natural Resources industry team. “Matt’s prior in-house experience will greatly benefit our clients as they continue to jockey for position in a growing industry. We’re delighted he’s joined Husch Blackwell and couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Bonovich understands the full life cycle of energy projects, from inception through development, financing, and construction, all the way to operation. He has worked with all types of energy technologies, including wind, solar, storage, transmission, natural gas, cogeneration, LNG, and biomass, and he also has significant experience working with new technologies.
“Husch Blackwell has one of the preeminent renewable energy practices in the country,” Bonovich said. “The firm has a hand on what feels like 35-40% of ongoing projects at any given time. Its sophistication and ability to handle large, complex projects in nearly every state greatly benefits my clients and provides me with a platform where I can grow and scale my practice.”
