News Releases

Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce the expansion of its Healthcare Litigation practice and its Healthcare industry group with the addition of Kevin Khachatryan as an attorney in the Los Angeles office.

Khachatryan joins the firm’s growing Los Angeles office after serving as Associate General Counsel to Sun Mar Healthcare, a large long-term skilled nursing and post-acute organization. He brings with him a wealth of experience in healthcare and litigation.

Khachatryan focuses his practice on defending healthcare organizations and professionals in complex litigation, including reimbursement issues, audits, commercial disputes, insurance coverage matters and False Claims Act allegations. At Sun Mar Healthcare, he handled complex healthcare, commercial, employment, torts, and elder abuse matters. He was also involved in executive decision-making, contract negotiations, and risk management. He worked routinely with senior corporate personnel on various teams, including human resources, marketing, and risk management.

“Working in-house was a game-changing experience for me in helping to shape my approach to private practice,” said Khachatryan. “It provided me with a unique understanding of the world my clients inhabit and the ability to fully grasp their business analyses, rationale, and goals.”

“We are pleased that Kevin chose to join our team. He deepens our litigation bench in California and has an approach to client service that fits in very well with our team’s approach,” said Curt Chase, the leader of Husch Blackwell’s Healthcare industry group.

Prior to Sun Mar Healthcare, Khachatryan worked at a boutique litigation firm in Los Angeles. He was selected to the 2020 Law360 Health Editorial Advisory Board and is a frequent writer and speaker on healthcare litigation issues.

Khachatryan obtained his J.D. from Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, his Pharm.D. from Midwestern University College of Pharmacy, and his B.S. from University of California, Los Angeles.
