National law firm Husch Blackwell grew its national tax practice with the addition of partner Kal Dargan, who is in the firm’s virtual office, The Link.

Dargan represents clients on a broad spectrum of federal tax matters, including advising on U.S. and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, partnership tax matters, structuring issues arising from debt and equity investments, bankruptcy and out-of-court restructurings, and internal tax planning and restructurings.

“Kal’s leadership and extensive experience across a wide range of complex domestic and international tax issues will be extremely valuable to our multinational corporate transactional clients, and we are excited to have him join our firm and help grow and expand on our existing tax practice,” said Jamie Lawless, Husch Blackwell’s Chief Executive.

Dargan joins the firm from an alternate investment advisor focused on distressed debt opportunities, where he served as tax structuring counsel. He began his career at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP and then served as senior tax counsel for Icahn Enterprises L.P., where he advised on tax planning strategies and the tax consequences of a wide range of business and investment transactions.

“Joining Husch Blackwell gives me a great platform to help clients achieve their objectives in an appropriately tax efficient manner,” Dargan said. “I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues across offices and practice areas, play an active role in a large variety of complex transactions and help expand the firm’s tax capabilities.”

Dargan received his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, and his B.S. from Tufts University, summa cum laude.
