Derek Taylor brings his commercial lending legal expertise to Husch Blackwell’s Financial Services & Capital Markets group.

Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Derek J. Taylor has joined as a partner in the firm’s Financial Services & Capital Markets industry group.

Based in Milwaukee and Madison, Taylor serves financial institutions, real estate developers and investors in a broad range of financial transactions, including commercial loans, tax credit projects, commercial real estate acquisitions, refinances, and dispositions. Taylor also previously served as in-house counsel at Johnson Controls, Inc. and was involved in corporate finance, tax, and commercial transactions.

In 2017, the Wisconsin chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP) recognized Taylor as its Associate Member of the Year. Taylor holds a J.D., cum laude, from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and is a native of Dallas, Texas.

Taylor’s arrival follows close on the heels of a Texas-based Banking & Finance team joining the firm in April from Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP as part of a 14-lawyer move.

“As we build out our capabilities and depth in the areas of commercial lending and finance transactions, we will continue to seek excellent practitioners who share our vision of client service,” said Paul Eberle, Husch Blackwell’s Chief Executive. “Derek is a highly respected practitioner within the banking community and is a terrific addition to our already strong complement of banking lawyers.”
