National law firm Husch Blackwell announced today that it will open an office in Nashville, Tennessee, in the third quarter. The firm will occupy more than 11,000 square feet in the heart of the Music City at the Fifth + Broadway Building.
The move to launch a brick-and-mortar office in Nashville follows an active year of recruiting talented attorneys in the area. Since May 2023, the firm has added eight attorneys—three of whom are partners—across multiple practice areas including partners Tim Capria, Christopher Friedman, Brandi Maiorino, senior counsel Alex McFall, and associates Shelby Lomax, Alexandra Lynn, Mariel Soehner, and Richard Swor.
“Establishing roots in Nashville has been a priority for the firm for the past few years due to the number of opportunities that align with our focus on healthcare, education and life sciences,” said Jamie Lawless, Husch Blackwell Chief Executive. “The Link, our virtual office, served as a catalyst for the initial growth in the area as clients needed talented and sophisticated attorneys to solve their legal needs. We have grown to a point where a physical office was necessary and we’re eager to grow to meet our client’s demand.”
Capria, who joined the firm in July 2023, will serve as the Office Managing Partner. He focuses his practice on intellectual property law and marketing, with a particular emphasis on global trademark portfolio management and counseling, copyright, truth-in-advertising claims, and influencer engagement. His clients include a world-class music and theater company, a Fortune 500 consumer goods company, multiple class-leading international franchisors, and life sciences and educational institutions.
Nashville will become Husch Blackwell’s 22nd office, including The Link, the firm’s virtual office. It is the firm’s first new office launch since May 2023, when it opened an office in Minneapolis. The firm previously opened offices in 2021 in Boston, Providence, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
“The Music City is a thriving hub for education, healthcare and life sciences—areas where Husch Blackwell is a national leader,” Capria said. “Nashville is also home to numerous Fortune 500 companies and has a thriving innovation and entrepreneurial community. We’re excited to grow our presence here to serve current and future clients.”
Husch Blackwell aggressively expanded its attorney ranks during the first quarter of 2024, adding 49 new attorneys in multiple fast-growing practice areas, including transportation, intellectual property, renewable energy, commercial litigation, and consumer financial services. In 2023, the firm added 111 attorneys to its network of physical offices and The Link.
