Husch Blackwell welcomes Kimberly A. Jones to its Milwaukee office as a partner in its Tax practice today.

Jones comes to the firm after nearly 18 years with Big 4 accounting firm Deloitte Tax LLP, where she served as a trusted tax advisor to, and representative of, businesses and individuals in a wide variety of complex tax matters before the IRS.  Her business clients at Deloitte ranged from Fortune 50 to small and mid-cap companies in dozens of industries.

As a member of the firm’s Financial Services and Capital Markets (FSCM) group, Jones will expand the firm’s Federal Tax Controversy practice and serve as a resource to FSCM members on federal tax matters.  Her practice will focus on four areas:

  • Advising and representing clients through all phases of IRS examinations and administrative appeals, including post-appeals mediation;
  • Helping clients understand and apply complex federal tax laws and regulations and develop tax audit positions to minimize tax liabilities and risk;
  • Assisting clients with IRS issue resolution programs and procedures outside of the normal examination process, such as pre-filing agreements and private letter ruling requests; and
  • Assisting clients with refund claims, penalty abatement requests, and strategic advice on other IRS practice and procedure matters

Jones earned her LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center (1999), her J.D., magna cum laude, from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law (1996), and her B.A., cum laude, from Butler University (1992).
