Husch Blackwell Welcomes Two Attorneys to Kansas City Office

Husch Blackwell welcomed Demetrius Peterson as senior counsel and Alyssa Mayer as an associate to its Kansas City office in October 2016.

Peterson, a member of the firm's Healthcare, Life Sciences & Education industry team, has focused his practice on serving educational institutions. He has experience advising school district administrators and staff members in the areas of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, Title VI, Title IX and other student and employee conduct and discipline issues.  He obtained his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law (2009) and his B.S. from the University of Kansas School of Journalism (2006), interning for legacy firm Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin as an undergraduate.

Mayer joins the firm’s commercial litigation practice from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She also served as an assistant county prosecuting attorney. Mayer obtained her J.D. from the Washington University School of Law (2011) and her B.A. summa cum laude from Truman State University (2008).
