Husch Blackwell's Eckhardt, Kawski Named to 2017 ‘Up and Coming' List

David Eckhardt and Marci Kawski have been named to the Wisconsin Law Journal's Up and Coming List for 2017.

The Wisconsin Law Journal has named Husch Blackwell associates David Eckhardt and Marci Kawski among its 2017 Up and Coming Lawyers list. The award series recognizes attorneys who “represent determination in legal work, in community betterment and in improving their own law firms,” and who are making a “significant impact on the legal profession.” The award is open to attorneys who have practiced law for eight years or less.

Based in Milwaukee, Eckhardt is a member of the firm’s Financial Services & Capital Markets industry group. His practice focus includes employee benefits, executive compensation and tax, including executive compensation, employee stock option plans, ERISA compliance, and the structuring and tax treatment of various executive equity arrangements. Eckhardt received his J.D., cum laude, and LL.M. in taxation, with honors, from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

Kawski is based in the firm’s Madison office and is also a member of the Financial Services & Capital Markets industry group. She primarily counsels national and local providers of consumer credit on regulatory and litigation matters, including federal laws governing mortgages, credit cards, automobile financing, internet lending and secured and unsecured financing as well as state-level consumer credit statutes. Marci is active in the Consumer Financial Services Committee in the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association (ABA) and is currently chair of the ABA Young Lawyers Subcommittee.  Prior to joining the firm, Marci worked for Congressman Mark Green in Washington and served as an intern to Justice Annette Kingsland Ziegler of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, to the Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel and to the Wisconsin Department of Justice. She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

A reception honoring the 2017 Up and Coming Lawyers will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.
