Husch Blackwell Chief Executive Jamie Lawless spoke with Law360 to discuss the firm’s performance in 2023 and its strategic investments for future growth.
"We're focused on the long-term play," Lawless told Law360. "When you run your firm like a business, one particular metric in one particular year doesn't mean much. It's more important to look at the firm's success over a much longer period of time."
Husch Blackwell hired aggressively in 2023—adding 111 attorneys. One contributing factor to that is the firm's work-from-anywhere model rooted in The Link, the firm's virtual office. More than 35% of the new attorneys are members of The Link.
The firm also opened a new office in Minneapolis, where it capped off the year with the addition 11 intellectual property attorneys from Patterson Thuente, who started January 1, 2024.
"I see us staying very true to those business principles, investing in people, investing in infrastructure and anchoring everything we do on the client's needs," she said.
