Husch Blackwell successfully defended client Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in a Chicago arbitration hearing. The claimant, who was legally blind, had his application to the school denied on the basis that his visual impairment made it impossible for him to complete the hands-on program.
The claimant asserted a claim for damages under the Americans With Disabilities Act and Rehabilitation Act, originally seeking as much as $14 million. The arbitrator ruled in the school’s favor on all claims.
