Hayley Hanson and TaRonda Randall will present, "Faculty Handbooks: Not Just Documentation," at the 2023 SACSCOC Annual Meeting on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
Faculty handbooks are considered major documentation sources for accreditation; however, their role is much broader for institutions and is not without risk. Topics such as shared governance, free speech, academic expectations, tenure, and accommodations for faculty are pressing issues for many institutions. In this session, the panel will discuss these issues along with best practices for mitigating potential legal exposure by keeping faculty handbooks relevant, up-to-date, and ready for accreditation reviews.
