Innovations Manager Rebecca Holdredge will present "The Legal Engineer Consultant" at ILTACON 2021 on August 26, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The legal engineer consultant works at the intersection of law and technology, translating legal requirements and objectives into technical concepts and solutions. As legal technologies continue to grow and multiply throughout the industry, the need for legal engineers to bridge the gap between law and technology is increasing. In this session, Rebecca will explore ways in which law firms have enhanced their client relationships with a type of legal engineer consultancy: providing technical services and know-how to clients on a billable or value-added basis. Some examples of this type of work include document automation, data analytics, decision tree and workflow automation, process and project management, app development and technical integration services.

The session will explore the following questions: What does a legal engineer do? How are firms billing legal engineering consultancy services? What are the career pathways and prospects for legal engineers? How can law firms recruit legal engineers into their innovation, knowledge management or IT teams? What are some recent examples of legal engineering services provided in the market now? How do coders-turned-legal-experts differ from lawyers-turned-coders and how do each offer unique consultancy value to law-firm-client relationships?
