Breanna Schmidt

Director of Culture & Talent Integration
Overview

As Director of Culture & Talent Integration, Breanna builds and maintains a firm culture of respect, inclusion, development, and innovation.

Breanna oversees onboarding and integration for all employees—attorneys, paralegals, and business professionals—with the aim of creating best-in-class processes that ensure individuals can contribute at a high level and feel fully integrated into the firm from their first day of employment. She also takes a leading role in the firm’s annual engagement survey, working with managers to act on and improve results to help the firm build a truly engaged workforce. Breanna’s central goals are to incorporate Husch Blackwell’s culture into everything we do and encourage high levels of employee retention.

Breanna’s role relies on extensive collaboration with various internal teams, particularly Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, ensuring that the firm’s commitment to DEI is fully integrated into all elements of our culture. She knows firsthand how important these efforts are and how they lead to a better work product.

With 20 years of experience at law firms, Breanna is extensively familiar with the industry—and the brilliant minds it attracts. She accepted her first position as a clerk while still an undergraduate student, with the goal of someday becoming an attorney herself. However, she found herself far more interested in developing programming to help lawyers and business professionals develop and grow in their careers than in practicing law. Breanna realized she’d found her true calling, and she has focused her career on talent development within the legal industry since 2007. She joined Husch Blackwell in early 2023 out of excitement for the firm’s innovative culture and willingness to take the necessary risks to become the best at what we do.

Breanna takes great satisfaction in helping colleagues find fulfillment in their careers, and she knows it’s clients who ultimately benefit from highly engaged professionals who stay with the firm for the long term.
