Overview

An inventor herself, Daidre understands firsthand the value of patents, what it takes to translate an idea into an asset, and how best to approach the patent application process.

While a chemical engineer at 3M Company, Daidre and her team developed two inventions. Collaborating with a patent attorney to apply for the respective patents inspired Daidre’s interest in patent law. Now a registered patent attorney, she helps domestic and international clients of all sizes protect their inventions from interlopers.

Daidre believes that successfully drafting patents requires communicating to the patent examiner the invention’s business case beyond its technical features. As such, she taps her technical and legal knowledge to develop a thorough understanding of its differentiators so the patent office will find the product important, novel, and inventive. Her ability to see the big picture while managing the details results in an efficient and cost-effective client experience.

Independent and small companies to Fortune 500 corporations in nearly all fields, especially chemical, biotech, and mechanical technology, consider Daidre a trusted member of their team. Beyond patent preparation and prosecution, her services include product clearance, infringement, invalidity, competitor landscape analyses, freedom-to-operate, accelerated patent examination, and patentability opinions. She also handles robust intellectual property (IP) portfolios for established large companies, and crafts and expands portfolios for smaller startups and individuals.

Daidre joined Husch Blackwell in 2024 after nearly 20 years at an intellectual property boutique. Prior to that, she served as a technical aide at 3M, performing testing and data analysis, and later as an advanced product development engineer. A Six Sigma Green Belt, she led numerous cross-functional development teams focused on new product development, process improvement, and test method development.

Daidre has two active children—a daughter in high school and a son in middle school—whom she drives to their sporting events, including volleyball and soccer, and football, basketball, and baseball games, respectively. Her husband, a former Division I golfer, encourages the family to dabble on the links as well.

Daidre also likes to cook, read fiction, and run. She occasionally participates in 5Ks and 10Ks and has completed a marathon. When she lived in Los Angeles, she followed The Strand beach path. Now in Minneapolis, she runs on her Peloton Tread when she’s not jogging around her neighborhood.

She and her husband like to travel. Among their favorite destinations are Spain, Mexico, the Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, China, the United Kingdom, and Sweden. Italy and Australia are on their wish list.

Daidre was a professional log roller and competed in the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward, Wisconsin, for many years. Her accomplishments landed her on the cover of Farm Family America.
