Overview

Ryan represents clients of all sizes in a wide range of business matters.

Ryan came to his legal career with a strong interest in the business world: a former business school student, he has long been especially interested in business development, and he and his wife are now small business owners themselves. He understands firsthand the challenges business owners face and the importance of solid legal counsel.

At Husch Blackwell, Ryan represents businesses in complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, defending and supporting client companies involved in construction, real estate and other business litigation. Ryan also handles labor and employment matters, defending companies when sued by employees, such as in cases involving allegations of discrimination, harassment or retaliation. He regularly helps employers solve legal questions and assists with implementation of company policies to comply with state and federal regulations.

Ryan’s interest in law stems from a passion for helping people and solving problems. He began his career as a prosecuting attorney where he litigated cases involving financial crimes, working with victims and their families to navigate challenging situations. There’s nothing he enjoys more than achieving a win for his clients, and he loves strategizing for the best way to argue a case. Ryan’s aim is always to know the facts, the law and the case in question backwards and forwards in order to find the best resolution possible for a client.

Outside the Office

Ryan and his wife, Jessica, are avid hikers who love spending time outdoors, especially with their young son, David. When they’re at home, they enjoy exploring Missouri trails and rivers, and vacations nearly always involve outdoor activities. The couple have a goal of visiting every national park, with a recent vacation including all eight of the national parks in Arizona and Utah—with many trails in each.

Ryan and Jess have hiked in more exotic locales as well: they’ve previously spent a night in the Amazon rainforest, and their honeymoon included a four-day hike on the ancient Inca Trail to reach Machu Picchu.

Ryan’s also a huge Missouri sports fan who loves to cheer on the Missouri Tigers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
