Josh has over two decades of experience guiding companies such as insurers and other providers of financial services through the management of corporate governance matters, the complexities of regulatory compliance, and corporate transactions.
Josh brings a unique perspective to private practice, having served as the U.S. general counsel for a top North American insurance and financial services provider and holding multiple non-legal operations and marketing leadership roles at financial services industry providers. He uses this extensive background to counsel corporate clients across a vast array of legal, compliance, operations, and marketing challenges, including matters such as insurance regulatory issues, reinsurance and risk management, distributor contracting and regulation oversight, and executive management support. Josh often serves as clients’ primary outside counsel in a broad range of areas and enjoys helping corporate clients thrive through the management of day-to-day legal challenges as well as larger, long-term projects.
In the compliance and regulatory area, Josh provides clients with real-world, practical advice, having served as lead contact with insurance departments and other regulatory agencies on various matters. He provides sophisticated advice on various matters, including those involving the Insurance Holding Company Act and related insurance regulatory issues; the Telephone Consumer Privacy Act (TCPA); various privacy matters including HIPAA, GLBA, California Consumer Privacy Act and the NAIC Model Data Security Law; USA PATRIOT Act and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA); ORSA and CGAD; among many others.
Josh also enjoys guiding clients in the transactional setting at all stages of M&A. He has provided advice in connection with well over $1 billion in transactions and with his multi-faceted legal and operational experience, is capable of leading integration teams that can assess post-transaction challenges and develop effective and efficient integration plans.
