Katey helps clients ensure that patients receive quality healthcare.
Katey’s interest in law stemmed from her grandparents’ difficult experiences with the healthcare system and a passion to help improve matters. She also grew up with a mother who served as a nursing home administrator, so she understands the operational challenges healthcare organizations and providers face. Katey knows most organizations care deeply about offering high-quality care, and she uses her legal skills to help them deliver.
Katey focuses her practice on regulatory compliance matters, guiding clients through complex state and federal requirements, Medicaid and Medicare rules, and reimbursement issues. She works with long-term providers, such as assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, as well as acute care providers.
Prior to joining the firm as an associate, Katey served as a Husch Blackwell summer associate and assisted attorneys with research on healthcare regulations. During her law school summers, she examined nursing homes and covid compliance under Professor Sam Halabi, contributed to Missouri’s Medicaid expansion with Lowell Pearson, and assisted with medical record discovery work at a small personal injury firm.
Known for her responsiveness and ready availability, Katey aims to form a personal connection with clients and wants them to feel they can come to her with any question at all. She’s genuinely excited to read and research legal matters, staying on top of ever-changing regulations so that clients can focus on patients.
