As a highly-decorated FBI Special Agent, Kurt has more than 26 years of experience conducting successful high-profile and covert investigations, including complex financial crimes, fraud, public corruption, tax matters, corporate/securities issues and asset forfeiture.
He has also handled numerous investigations focusing on child exploitation, fugitive and reactive matters. In this role, he conducted numerous comprehensive witness interviews and testified in trials, grand jury and other judicial proceedings.
Kurt’s service with the FBI included 10 years as a Senior Resident Agent. During his FBI career he was certified as an FBI Firearms Instructor (24 years), a Tactical Instructor (17 years) and a SWAT Team Sniper (13 years). A skilled public speaker, Kurt has also been an instructor for the FBI’s annual sniper school for the Midwest Tactical Officers Association (MTOA) for more than 20 years. He maintained Top Secret/SCI national security clearance during his tenure with the FBI.
Prior to his career with the FBI, Kurt was an attorney focused on federal and state tax strategies for domestic and transnational corporations and partnerships, as well as small businesses and high-tech startup corporations and partnerships and business planning.
Kurt taps into both his legal and investigative skills as part of Husch Blackwell’s White Collar, Internal Investigations & Compliance team to investigate criminal and civil matters, lead internal investigations and provide compliance support to clients.
