Lori draws on her firsthand experience as an engineer to assist clients with patent applications.
After earning a degree in chemical engineering, Lori began her career as a technical support engineer at a specialty chemical company, where she had the opportunity to service over two dozen petrochemical plants across the U.S. In addition to helping local engineers solve day to day problems, she worked closely with the research and development team to ensure that their products didn’t violate existing patents. She loved working in a STEM field, but she soon realized that she wanted a more technical role where she could directly assist inventors with cutting edge technology, and she chose to pursue a career in intellectual property law.
Today, Lori assists domestic and international clients with patent applications and patent prosecution. While she works with clients in a variety of industries, she has a special focus on chemical or mechanical engineering companies and on new technologies.
Lori has an inside understanding of clients’ world: she’s stood in their shoes, and she’s aware of their goals, challenges and internal dynamics. As an engineer herself, she often saw inventors and fellow engineers struggle to communicate with legal counsel and feel that attorneys didn’t understand their work and their needs. Lori ensures that this is never the case for the clients she assists, drawing on her insider’s background to make sure that a client’s internal team feels comfortable and heard.
