McKenzie advises clients on corporate matters.
McKenzie divides her practice between corporate transactions—including mergers, acquisitions, divestiture, and joint ventures—and counsel on corporate formation, structuring, and governance, often for startups and emerging companies. She has worked with clients of all sizes; however, she is especially experienced with closely-held companies and family businesses. While McKenzie is broadly knowledgeable about corporate law, she is particularly well-schooled in tax matters and the tax impacts of various corporate structures.
McKenzie first pursued a legal career with the intention of practicing family law and enrolled in law school tax courses with the intention of better understanding the income tax issues that would weigh on family matters. However, she quickly found that she was fascinated by the business side of tax, and she dove into as many business law classes as possible. McKenzie’s passion for the business world means that her favorite part of her practice is simply working with a wide variety of organizations and learning about their operations and industries.
Her passion also means that clients can readily sense her genuine interest in their businesses and business goals. With a reputation as an excellent communicator, McKenzie always ensures that clients understand her plans and the why behind her advice—and most important of all, she ensures that she understands client objectives and offers legal strategies that fit.
