Overview

Mike is an experienced litigator and business adviser, helping clients navigate and avoid litigation. 

Mike’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation at both trial and appellate levels. He has represented clients in litigation matters across a broad array of subjects, including breach of contract, M&A and shareholder disputes, class actions, consumer fraud, insurance coverage, data privacy, commercial construction defects, and product liability and safety.   

Recently, Mike has litigated, and provided compliance counsel about, state and federal privacy statutes including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. He also has experience defending product manufacturers against cases alleging product defects and deceptive advertising brought under state consumer protection statutes and warranty theories. 

Mike is a passionate writer with substantial experience drafting dispositive and discovery motions in state and federal courts nationwide. Clients value his energy and creativity in getting to the factual bedrock in each case and using that to develop a persuasive narrative that puts them in the best position.

Outside the Office

Michael enjoys traveling all over the world and is a dual Irish-American citizen. Most recently, he and his girlfriend, Erin, visited Banff, AB, Canada, as well as the Cayman Islands. Michael also enjoys skiing in places such as Park City, Utah, although his favorite sport is golf. Michael also samples Chicago’s restaurants, particularly barbecue joints.

Community Leadership

In collaboration with the firm, Michael has worked on pro bono cases, including those involving Section 1983 civil rights for incarcerated individuals.
