Renae’s healthcare provider clients cover the entire industry spectrum, and include large hospitals and health systems, as well as independent and affiliated mental health and substance abuse providers, long-term care providers, physician groups, FQHCs, and ambulatory surgery centers, among others. She also represents businesses involved in emerging areas of healthcare, such as telemedicine, telebehavioral health, and digital health. Additionally, Renae has experience assisting provider clients backed by private equity funds.
She advises healthcare providers on a range of regulatory and transactional matters, including:
- Fraud and abuse and anti-kickback statutes
- Stark Law, state self-referral, and false claims laws

- Fee-splitting and corporate practice prohibitions

In the transactional setting, Renae applies her knowledge of healthcare regulation to help her clients take deals to closing and beyond. She leads regulatory due diligence and remediation for mergers and acquisitions and advises clients on planning and structuring transactions and business arrangements. She regularly drafts and negotiates an array of contracts, including professional and management services agreements.
Prior to entering private practice, Renae served as a Medical Prosecutions Attorney with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, where she was involved in enforcement actions in connection with violations of the Medical Practice Act. Before law school, Renae worked for several years for a leading health care software vendor and participated in multiple large-scale implementations for health systems around the country.
