Ryan serves in the firm’s General Counsel office and provides advice to the firm and its attorneys regarding ethics and loss prevention.

Prior to joining the firm’s General Counsel office, Ryan was a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group and represented firm clients in litigation relating to lender liability, insurance coverage, estate and trust administration, and a variety of other general commercial matters.

  • Defended policyholders against negligence claims arising from high-risk sporting and commercial activities.
  • Obtained dismissal for a regional lender in a claim for breach of fiduciary duty and conversion of deposited funds.
  • Defended a large insurer against a claim for negligence and misrepresentation arising from alleged statements by an insurance agent, resulting in denial of life insurance coverage to the insured.
  • Represented a national franchisor in defeating a motion to dismiss claim for future royalties by a franchisee.
  • Obtained judgment for a regional lender for more than $4 million with a dismissal of all counterclaims against the lender.
  • Secured ruling in favor of a local employer to enforce covenant not to compete against healthcare provider.
  • Obtained relief from temporary restraining order for employees subjected to unlawful covenant not to compete.
