Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Chris Genetos has joined the firm’s Denver office as senior counsel. Genetos is a member of the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources industry group and its Renewable Energy practice group.

Prior to his arrival at Husch Blackwell, Genetos worked in-house for nearly a decade, serving as the lead real estate attorney in renewable energy project development, construction, and operations for various renewable energy companies.

“Chris’s arrival enhances our ability to field deep teams on projects from coast to coast,” said partner John Crossley, the head of Husch Blackwell’s Renewable Energy team. “Clients will appreciate his industry experience, his ability to solve problems, and his depth of knowledge regarding the development of renewable energy projects. Moreover, his internal experience at some of the industry’s most successful owners and developers gives our team an increasingly unique ability to understand and address their needs and concerns.”

Genetos has managed development teams for greenfield development projects and developed acquisitions. He oversees drafting and negotiation of all real estate documents, including project leases and easements, purchase options and sale agreements, build-out agreements, build-transfer agreements, and co-tenancy and shared facility agreements. Additionally, he oversees the completion of title insurance and survey matters necessary to finance and complete projects.

“It is an exciting time to join Husch Blackwell’s Renewable Energy group,” said Genetos. “When you assess which law firms are active in this space, Husch Blackwell is among the handful of firms involved in all aspects of renewable projects, from development to operations, in deals across the country. Our team handles a rich variety of work for clients who are shaping the future of the energy industry.”

Husch Blackwell’s Renewable Energy team has experienced rapid growth recently. During the first quarter of 2021 alone, the team added seven new attorneys. Additionally, the group garnered recognition in June 2021 from Legal 500 US, which included Husch Blackwell among its ranking of top law firms for Energy: Renewable/Alternative Power.
