Husch Blackwell Adds Three Attorneys to Houston Office

News Releases

Three attorneys have joined Husch Blackwell’s Technology, Manufacturing and Transportation group today. Douglas B. Dougherty and G. Joe Ellis join Husch Blackwell as senior counsel, and Anne Windham McLeod joins the firm as a staff attorney. All are based in Houston, where they previously practiced at Ellis, Carstarphen & Dougherty P.C.  The group’s arrival enhances Husch Blackwell’s complex multi-party litigation capabilities, particularly in the areas of mass torts and class actions.

“Doug, Joe and Anne have worked closely in the past with Husch Blackwell and our clients in connection with high-profile litigation involving significant enterprise risk,” said Joe Orlet, leader of the firm’s Technology, Manufacturing and Transportation group. “This familiarity will be an immediate asset to the firm’s clients.”

Douglas B. Dougherty concentrates his practice in the areas of civil litigation, mass toxic torts (including asbestos, silica, benzene, butadiene and other potentially hazardous chemicals), environmental litigation, product liability, consumer litigation and commercial litigation. He has obtained favorable results for a roster of Fortune 100 companies, large privately-owned manufacturing companies, sole proprietorships and individuals in state and federal courts across the country.

G. Joe Ellis represents Fortune 100 companies and large privately-owned manufacturers in the areas of asbestos and silica litigation, chemical exposure litigation, personal injury matters (specializing in defense of wrongful death litigation), civil litigation, commercial litigation, environmental litigation and agricultural litigation. Ellis has deep experience overseeing the day-to-day management of hundreds of active asbestos cases, ranging from the earliest stages of litigation strategy development through to trial.

Anne Windham McLeod represents clients in the areas of general tort litigation and insurance defense. She primarily focuses in the areas of mass toxic tort defense and environmental litigation and manages dockets for mass tort defendants, including both premises and products manufacturers. McLeod also represents clients in matters involving the Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA), breach of contract, choice of law, and complex constitutional issues and claims.

Husch Blackwell is nationally recognized for its ability to handle significant, complex litigation. The firm was recently recognized by BTI Consulting in its “Honor Roll of Most Feared Law Firms” for litigation and placed 58 litigation attorneys in the 2017 Best Lawyers in America directory, six of whom were selected as Lawyers of the Year.
