With a background in robotics and computer engineering, Clare assists clients with patent applications.
Clare has always been passionate about engineering for its problem-solving focus: to her, it’s a matter of figuring out how to get from A to B through a complex maze, and she loves finding multiple ways to achieve a goal. As a student, she was trained in computer and electrical engineering and worked in test engineering for luxury home appliances and robotics. She loved the hands-on robotics work, but a later internship in patent engineering caught her eye: a strong writer, Clare was drawn to the idea of a career where she could combine her interests in writing and in science. Upon graduation, she accepted a role as a patent engineer with a law firm.
Today, Clare assists clients and attorneys with patent prosecution, drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, and guiding clients’ patent strategies. She has a wide breadth of experience across an array of technologies, including security, radio, telecommunications, automotive control systems, power tools, video analytics, machine learning, and image sensor design.
Clients value Clare’s quick ability to pick up and understand new technologies, as well as her communication skills. Her own time in robotics engineering gives her insight into clients’ world and their work on the ground, and she combines her personal experience, scientific knowledge, and writing prowess to ensure that clients’ patents get through.
