Overview

An experienced litigator, Jennifer guides clients through high-stakes government investigations and complex litigation matters.

Jennifer focuses much of her practice on white collar cases and related internal and government investigations and counseling. She assists clients throughout the investigation, offering guidance on the process, advising companies and their employees on their response to the government, and representing clients if litigation occurs. She has experience defending clients before many federal agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Institute of Health (NIH), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). While Jennifer aims to resolve matters through settlement before charges or lawsuits are filed, her 20-plus years as a litigator provide considerable experience should litigation arise.

While Jennifer’s white collar and investigation work spans a variety of industries, she also has a particularly strong background in healthcare, where she continues to represent clients in licensing, regulatory, peer review, and administrative matters, as well as medical malpractice claims and litigation against providers and medical device manufacturers. She has also defended numerous national and global clients in real estate, employment, products liability, personal injury, and general commercial litigation.

Jennifer is also part of Husch Blackwell’s eDiscovery Solutions team, assisting with legal holds, data identification, preservation and collection of data, and data review and production in response to government investigations and litigation. These cases often require massive data review and eDiscovery support, and Jennifer has extensive experience managing and guiding large data review teams. Jennifer’s extensive electronic data management experience provides clients with an added level of support and continuity throughout the investigation and litigation process.

However, what Jennifer loves most about her practice is simply the client contact: a people person by nature, she thrives on building relationships with clients and walking them through each step of an investigation or litigation matter. Jennifer understands that these are high-stakes, high-stress events that turn clients’ lives upside down, and she provides accessible, straightforward counseling and strategies for resolution that help clients feel engaged and secure in the process.

Outside the Office

Jennifer enjoys throwing pots.

Having studied ceramics in college, Jennifer spends an evening each week at the potter’s wheel in her studio. Over the years, she’s joined a cooperative, sold her artwork, donated it toward charitable causes, and given much away as gifts to friends and family. She relents to the occasional request for a set of pasta bowls, despite the one-time special order for a ceramic armadillo that nearly turned her off commissions altogether.
