Mark has experience in all phases of patent litigation for a wide variety of technologies, from biomedical devices and pharmaceuticals to software and electronics to consumer products. With a background in chemical engineering, he is particularly drawn to innovations that rely on chemistry, but he practices broadly across industries. He has prepared patent litigations cases for trial in federal court, including ANDA litigation. Mark has also prepared cases for Markman hearings, substantive motion hearings, and pre-trial hearings. Thanks to his linguistics skills, Mark is particularly adept at representing foreign companies engaged in patent litigation in the U.S.
After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering, Mark worked as an engineer in the oil and gas industry. Inspired by his exposure to novel engineering technologies, Mark transitioned to patent law, where he could continue to draw on his technical background to inform his work in the intellectual property arena. He loves working on fascinating technologies, which allow him to do a deep dive into the unique technical issues presented in each case. Mark is passionate about using the law to protect innovation, while using science to leverage legal arguments.
