Husch Blackwell served as buyer’s counsel to Legacy Sports Partners in its acquisition of Vendsyssel FF, a professional football club based in Hjørring, Denmark.

Husch Blackwell served as buyer’s counsel to Legacy Sports Partners in its acquisition of Vendsyssel FF, a professional football club based in Hjørring, Denmark and currently competing in Denmark’s 1. Division, from owner Jacob Andersen. Andersen will remain with the organization as a minority shareholder and serve as its Chairman of the Board. The value of the acquisition was not publicly disclosed.

Through its acquisition, the new ownership group seeks to position Vendsyssel FF as a leader in the intersection of sports and entertainment by developing top-tier football talent and sourcing up-and-coming young stars from Denmark, Latin America, and other global football hotspots.

“Our ownership group is a strategic mix of talented individuals, each of whom brings something special to the team,” said Jeremy Klein, Chief Investment Officer of Legacy Sports Partners and a member of the ownership team. “We are integrating deep professional sports ownership and operations experience with finance, entrepreneurship, business strategy, and execution in order to create an innovative, globally oriented platform that extends beyond the pitch.”

Legacy Sports Partners is managed by Eduardo Zapata, Jeremy Klein, Sergio Sobrero Salazar, and Andres Gutierrez. In addition to LSP, the ownership group includes Colombian reggaeton star Blessd, his business partner and entertainment industry leader Santiago Jaramillo, and Danish professional football player Joachim Andersen.

“It was our team’s privilege to assist with this truly unique transaction that brought together such a diverse and sophisticated group of people who share a special vision for Vendsyssel FF,” said Remy Fesquet, Husch Blackwell partner who led the representation of Legacy Sports Partners. “Our cross-border M&A practice continues to grow, along with our increased presence in the European M&A market. Our work in this transaction highlights our ability to leverage our strong business and local counsel network in Europe, paired with our knowledge and understanding of the European M&A market and our experience handling cross-border matters, to deliver successful results for our clients in some of the most high-profile transatlantic buyouts and investments.”

Ahead of the Vendsyssel FF acquisition, Husch Blackwell also advised Legacy Sports Partners in the formation of a Delaware special-purpose vehicle and its private securities offering to investors.

The Husch Blackwell transaction team was led by Remy Fesquet with significant assistance from attorney Rob Markus.
